Measuring only 5.3″ long and weighing only 5.4 oz, the Streamlight MegaStream USB packs serious power into a compact, pocket-friendly design. Its max output of 1,800 lumens and 322-meter beam distance make it a solid choice for first responders, outdoor enthusiasts, and EDC users who need reliable high-performance lighting. With run times ranging from 13 hours on the low setting, to two hours on high, the three output modes let you balance brightness and runtime based on the task at hand. And when you’re out of juice, recharging the 3,500 mAh Streamlight SL-B34 lithium-ion rechargeable battery is done through a USB-C port on the side of the light.

Built from machined aluminum with an anodized finish, the MegaStream features an IPX7 waterproof rating and is tested for 2-meter impact resistance, making it tough enough for real-world use. A sliding head cover protects the charging port, and the tail switch offers both momentary and constant activation. Whether you need long-distance reach or extended runtime or a big brother partner to the tried-and-true EDC MicroStream, the MegaStream USB is a practical, well-built light that won’t take up too much space in your kit.

We were big fans of the ReyLight Pineapple Mini Ti when we had our first look nearly five years ago, and the latest iteration—the ReyLight Pineapple Mini Ti MK II – gives us everything we loved about the first one, with a few notable updates. It’s still a great little flashlight for your everyday carry: compact and built with titanium, so it feels solid while still being lightweight. This new version features a forward clicky switch, meaning you can turn the light on momentarily as you press the button instead of a full click to activate. and the simple interface makes it a breeze to use. It also uses the latest enthusiast Nichia 519A R9080 4000K LED this time around, which delivers a warm, natural light that maxes out at 500 lumens with the included rechargeable 10440 battery. Need a backup? It can also run on an AAA battery (though at a lower 90 lumens). The titanium pocket clip’s design has been improved as well, lying flatter against the body so you avoid snagging it on anything as you take it out. These changes raise the price a small bit compared to the original Pineapple Mini Ti, but if you ask us, it’s well worth it.

Exceed Designs’ newly released RAMPANT EDC signals the arrival of the future of flashlight interfaces. After nearly three years of research and development, this flashlight stands out with its sleek titanium or aluminum construction in a spread of finishes and coatings and the ability to deliver 1,300+ lumens using a high-CRI Nichia 519 5000K LED, with additional LED options for tailored performance. The highlight is its unique new ramping interface (hence the RAMPANT name), which uses a rocker switch built into the head that allows seamless brightness control without the hassle of cycling through various modes to get the lighting you want. The switch also allows instant access to Turbo and Moonlight by simply double-tapping up or down on the switch respectively, offering one of the most simple and intuitive interfaces we’ve seen in a light yet.

In true enthusiast fashion, the RAMPANT also features a modular swappable lens system, which is made possible by the proprietary RampantKey for the quick and hassle-free replacement of lenses or reflectors. A floating rear clip collar offers flexible orientation (and uses T8 screws!), while the minimalist exterior emphasizes function over unnecessary embellishments. Compatible with both AA and rechargeable batteries in the R4 model, or 18650s for the big brother R8, the RAMPANT is built to perform in all conditions, with IP68 waterproofing, sapphire glass options, and advanced thermal management via a precision-milled copper pill in the titanium models. As Exceed Designs’ latest innovation, the RAMPANT redefines what an EDC flashlight can offer, delivering simplicity, adaptability, and high performance in a refined design.

In an enthusiast market dominated by Hanklights with fully customizable platforms between Emisar and Noctigon models, it’s nice to see new challengers bringing some fresh new features to the table. The X4Q Comet is one of the latest such lights from Fireflylite, a compact, 4″ and 2.7oz (without the battery) light maximizing the 21700 battery form factor. But don’t let the size fool you; it’s packed with features like powerful LED emitter configurations (especially impressive ones Fireflylite make themselves), enthusiast-level drivers and interface in the Lume X1 and eminently powerful and customizable Andúril UI (naturally), all while offering a robust host build that still keeps the price somehow below 50 dollars.

The star of the show is the option to put in Fireflylite’s own FFL351A 4000K emitter into the X4Q, which not only gives it up to 2,600 lumens of output, but also comes with an incredibly desirable rosy white tint, one that hearkens back to the much celebrated, but discontinued, Nichia 219B sw45k emitter. The Lume X1 boost driver is also a standout, giving you enough brightness while staying efficient, and comes with constant-current power regulation as well as Ultra Dynamic Range (UDR) to be able to hit very low floors for moonlight or firefly modes.

In spite of its enthusiast internals, with its durable CNC-machined body, IPX8 water resistance, and 2-meter drop resistance, this light is still built to handle real-life adventures and serve you well as a main EDC. The X4Q doesn’t come with a USB port for charging like its sibling, the X4 Stellar, so keep that in mind if you don’t have a charger that fits the recommended 21700 batteries. Available in four colors: Timber Green, Navy Blue, Desert Tan, and Matte Black, the X4Q Comet is fun, functional, and has all the nerdery we could want from an EDC flashlight.

If you’re looking for a unique light to add to your everyday carry, few offer the ability to swap between a full range of colors while also packing a useful UV light in a compact package. That’s what you get with the new Wurkkos HD01 UV, a literal do-it-all light made for lighting up your surroundings in more than the standard soft white, cool white, and daylight options most lights provide. The two-button interface is simple and intuitive, and the compact flat clip style on the Wurrkos makes for an easy pocket carry, especially with the clip.

The side lights have addressable RGB emitters that let you flood an area with any color you want, something that’s especially useful if you’re looking for mood lighting or trying to take an interesting cell phone photo for your social media accounts. The primary 365nm UV light is good for charging lume on a watch or identifying items in the dark. And of course, the light comes with a standard white flood LED for more traditional flashlight use, with plenty of lumens (up to 1,200) to handle most illumination tasks.

You would think that this wealth of features would come with a commensurate price tag, but Wurkkos are somehow able to price the HD01 UV at under 50 dollars at the time of this writing, and even cheaper direct from their site, and available now in black or purple.

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Nitecore’s EDC-series of lights, and for good reason. They’re slim, practical, highly pocketable lights that don’t compromise on performance, and that’s a combination we always love to see. The Nitecore EDC23 builds on the design of the successful EDC27 and makes it even more compact with a length of just 4.05″ and a thickness of 0.53″. What’s impressive is that it does this while improving on the performance of its predecessor. Composed of stainless steel front and rear shells, a high-strength carbon fiber composite shell, and an aluminum heat dissipation plate, the EDC23 manages to combine strength and lightweight handling, fitting comfortably in hand and pocket alike.

The Furthest Throwing Flashlight: Weltool W4Pro LEP

While the Weltool W4Pro LEP flashlight has an output of only 570 lumens, it has an insanely precise throw and powerful candela (beam intensity). This beam can come in handy whether you’re in search and rescue operations or want to be a little more discreet and avoid lighting up the entire forest on your next camping trip. OLIGHT X9R Marauder 25000 Lumens

The X9R Marauder is Olight's most powerful light yet, setting an extremely high (and bright) bar of 25,000 lumens for a production light. Olight's familiar interface and the X9R's mode and battery indicators make it easy to use the light, if not a bit difficult to carry around. Still, the IPX7 resistance helps it keep trucking. Battery life varies depending on which of its nine modes you’re in, but at 200 lumens, the X9R Marauder will last you roughly 27 hours. If you opt for high-power modes, that time drops to around 100 minutes.

How to Choose the Brightest Flashlight

When choosing the brightest flashlight, you should know a few things first. Whether you’re cross-shopping a few lights to add to your kit or just want to be familiar with what’s available, these common terms will help you understand what makes one flashlight better than another.

Lumens

A lumen is a unit of measurement that describes brightness. Saying that a flashlight is bright doesn’t really help to describe how bright it is. Lumens provide context and a frame of reference so you can get a general idea of the amount of output a flashlight has. For reference, the LED flashlight on the back of a modern smartphone has an output of roughly 50 lumens.

Rechargeable, battery-powered, or both?

Whether you should get a rechargeable flashlight or battery-powered light depends on what you will use it for. If you plan on adding the light to your daily kit, then a rechargeable light might be worth looking into since you can easily plug it into a charger to power it up again. Plus, if you use it often, you will run through plenty of batteries. On the other hand, if you’re getting a flashlight for a particular use case or tossing it in an emergency pack, battery-powered might be the way to go since you can swap them out relatively quickly. This means you can have a functioning light again in a matter of seconds instead of waiting for a light to recharge.

Size

Size matters with everything in EDC, but that’s especially true when it comes to bright flashlights. While plenty of powerful flashlights also come in a small size, you’ll typically find that larger lights have the brightest output. This is because manufacturers can fit more LEDs on it or have more space to cram batteries into. These may not be the best flashlights for everyday carry, but they’re the best at what they do.

You might actually need a tactical flashlight

When it comes to picking an EDC flashlight most people will be fine with a tough light that is lightweight, easy to use, rechargeable, and somewhat water-resistant. Most, but not all people. If you’re putting your flashlight through extreme use and prefer tougher build quality, then it might be worth looking more into tactical flashlights that can withstand greater stress. That said, some options on this list should cover your bases if your main concern is peak brightness.
